Chicken of the Woods Nuggets Recipe

These Chicken of the Woods Nuggets are the perfect recipe for enjoying the incredible and joyous occasions of foraging for your very own Chicken of the Woods Mushroom!

They’re crunchy and soft in the center (if you’ve picked younger mushrooms of course) and you could really be fooled into thinking you’re actually eating Chicken.

Enjoy them in a bun with chips and dip.

Here’s a nice video for cooking Chicken of the Wood Goujons

  • Chicken of the woods
  • Flour
  • Egg
  • Bread crumbs
  • Veg oil for frying.
  • Salt, pepper, paprika

Method for creating our Chicken of the Woods Nuggets:

  1. Cut chicken of the wood into nugget size pieces.
  2. Set 3 bowls out and add flour to the first. you will need enough flour to dip all the nuggets in. Season flour with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.
  3. In the second bowl, crack two eggs and whisk.
  4. In the third bowl put bread crumbs in.
  5. I tend to deep fry mine but you could oven cook. — whilst the oil is heating, dip cotw in the flour then the egg, followed by the bread crumbs. If you have a lot do in small batches and put on some kitchen roll once golden to soak up oil.
  6. Tips or extra notes: Don’t over-flour at first as the egg won’t stick.
